PLF Reviews lays out a complete launch email sequence built on the structure Jeff Walker teaches in Product Launch Formula — the same structure he has used since his first email newsletter in 1996, which, according to his About page, went out to just 19 people.
A true story about reaching people directly: WhatsApp

When Jan Koum launched WhatsApp in 2009, almost nobody used it, and he nearly quit. What changed everything was Apple’s push notifications: the app could now reach people directly. Usage took off, and in 2014 Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19 billion.
Your launch emails are your “push notifications.” In the Product Launch Formula, the people who hear from you directly, in their inbox, are the people who show up for your videos and your offer. Read the full story: Jan Koum: food stamps to WhatsApp.
Every email in a launch has one job: give value, build anticipation or make an honest offer.
Below is a 17-email sample sequence with send timing and original example copy. Adapt the count to your launch; the order matters more than the number.

Pre-prelaunch emails
Email 1 — subject: “Quick question (10 seconds)”
I’m putting together free training on ___. Before I record it, I want it to answer your real questions. Hit reply: what’s the #1 thing stopping you from ___ right now?
Email 2 — subject: “What 214 of you told me” (use your real number)
The top three answers were ___, ___ and ___. So the free training starts with those. First video goes out on Monday.
Prelaunch emails (PLC1–PLC3)
Email 3 — subject: “Video #1: why most ___ stay stuck”
The first free video is up. It covers the three reasons ___ — and why none of them is about talent. Watch it, then leave a comment with the reason that hit home.
Email 5 — subject: “Video #2: the 15-minute ___ method”
This is the most practical one. Try the exercise today and reply with your result.
Email 7 — subject: “Final video + what opens on Thursday”
In the last video I share a student story and show you what’s possible in 90 days. I’ll also tell you about something I’m opening for people who want to go further.
Jeff Walker’s own Launch Masterclass follows this rhythm every week: PLC1 on Monday, PLC2 on Tuesday and PLC3 live on Thursday at 4:00 pm Eastern Time.
Open cart emails
Email 9 — subject: “Doors are open: ___” — what’s included, price, guarantee, deadline, who it’s for and who it isn’t for.
Emails 11–13 — one objection per email. Use the exact words people used in your survey. Answer honestly; if the product isn’t right for someone, say so.
Closing emails
Most launches see a spike on the final day. Keep the reminders short:
Email 14 — subject: “24 hours left” · Email 15 — subject: “Closing tonight at midnight” · Email 16 — subject: “1 hour left”
Lessons from real launches
- Write the cart emails before the launch starts. Yaro Starak wrote in 2011 that, in his first launch in 2007, he left the sales page until the last week and had to hire a copywriter in a rush for $3,000.
- Reply to people. Replies are research, community and social proof at the same time.
- Segment buyers out of the closing emails as soon as they purchase.
Launch email sequence mistakes
- Sending the offer before any value.
- One closing reminder instead of three.
- Fake urgency (“price goes up in 10 minutes” when it doesn’t).
- No post-launch email to non-buyers — they’re your next launch’s buyers.
