The people who hesitate most to launch with the Product Launch Formula usually say some version of the same thing: “I don’t have enough yet.” Not enough followers, not enough money, not enough confidence to be on camera. Nick Vujicic was born without arms and without legs. This is the story of what he did with what he had.
His story has very dark moments. We tell them carefully, because how he came through them is what matters. If you are struggling yourself, please talk to someone you trust or a local helpline — you deserve support.
Chapter 1Nick Vujicic’s birth: a family’s shock
Nick Vujicic was born on 4 December 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, to Dušanka and Borislav Vujičić, Serbian immigrants from what was then Yugoslavia. His father became a pastor.
Nick was born with tetra-amelia syndrome — a very rare condition in which a baby is born without arms and legs. He does have a small foot, which he would later learn to use with remarkable skill.
His parents faced a future they hadn’t imagined. Then they made a decision that would shape his whole life: they would raise him to look at the bright side, and to do as much as he possibly could for himself.
Chapter 2Nick Vujicic’s childhood: bullying and despair
School was hard. Nick was bullied because of his condition. He was different in a way nobody could fail to notice, and children can be cruel about difference.
As a boy, by his own account in his autobiography, he became so low that he attempted to end his life. He survived.
We include that because it’s true, and because the person who wrote it down later chose to share it to help others. A child who once wanted to stop living grew up to spend his life telling young people that they matter.
The boy who once wanted to give up became a man whose whole work is telling people not to.Chapter 3
Nick Vujicic learns to do what “can’t be done”
Over time, Nick learned to do more than anyone expected. Over time he learned to write, type and handle everyday tasks in his own way. He went on to university: at 21 he graduated from Griffith University in Australia with a Bachelor of Commerce, double majoring in accountancy and financial planning.
Imagine the sheer persistence behind that degree: lectures, exams, assignments, all done differently from everyone else in the room, with no option to give up because “it’s harder for me.”
Chapter 4Nick Vujicic finds his voice at 17
At 17, before he finished school, Nick began giving short inspirational talks — at his school, at church events, to small groups. He didn’t wait to be famous. He didn’t wait until he had a polished story or a big stage. He talked to whoever would listen.
Those small rooms became bigger rooms. His ministry, Life Without Limbs, grew into an organization that brought him to audiences around the world. In 2010 Random House published his book Life Without Limits, translated into about 30 languages.
In 2012 he married Kanae Miyahara. They have four children.
What Nick Vujicic’s story teaches about launching a product
Nick Vujicic lesson 1: start with the stage you have
Nick didn’t start in stadiums. He started in a school assembly. Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Formula is built for people who start small: a Seed Launch to a handful of people is a legitimate, powerful first step. Your first “audience” might be 30 people on an email list. Speak to them as if they were 3,000.
Nick Vujicic lesson 2: your story is your strongest content
Nick’s message works because it is his. Nobody else can tell it. In a launch, the most powerful prelaunch content usually includes your own story — what you struggled with and how you found the way through. It is one of the mental triggers Jeff Walker teaches, and it is the one competitors can’t copy.
Nick Vujicic lesson 3: “I can’t” is usually “I can’t yet, this way”
Writing, typing, studying accountancy — he found another way to do each thing. Many people say “I can’t make videos,” “I can’t write sales emails,” “I can’t do tech.” Usually it means “I haven’t learned a way that works for me yet.” A launch can be done with simple tools: a phone camera, a free email service, a basic page.
Nick Vujicic lesson 4: purpose carries you through the hard days
What kept Nick going was a reason bigger than himself. A launch has hard days too — when the webinar is empty or the first email gets no replies. Know why you’re doing it, and write it down where you’ll see it.
The day Nick Vujicic could have stayed silent
He had every reason to stay out of sight: the stares, the bullying, the darkness of his childhood. He chose to stand up in front of a room — first a small one — and speak. Everything else grew from that choice.
